Email marketing quickstart
This quickstart takes you from an empty workspace to a test broadcast delivered to a small internal list. Complete the test path before importing a full audience or activating automations.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”You need:
- access to CopyLoop Email Marketing
- permission to add DNS records for a sending domain
- the brand name, sender identity, and physical company address used in email
- a few internal email addresses for a test list
- one message your team can review
1. Confirm brand and company details
Section titled “1. Confirm brand and company details”Open Settings → Brands and confirm the active brand. Review the brand name and company details used by your email footer and sending workflow.
Then open Brand and add enough context for the first message:
- a current example that sounds like your team
- the main value proposition or campaign brief
- required product terminology
- an audience description for the test message
Use Build your brand foundation if this is a new brand.
2. Verify a sending domain
Section titled “2. Verify a sending domain”- Open Settings → Sending Domains.
- Add the domain or subdomain you intend to use.
- Copy the DNS records exactly into your DNS provider.
- Return to CopyLoop and refresh verification after the records have propagated.
- Confirm that the sender address you plan to use matches the verified domain.
Do not use a production audience while the domain is unverified. See Sending domains for DNS and deliverability guidance.
3. Create a small internal list
Section titled “3. Create a small internal list”- Open Contacts.
- Select the Lists tab and choose New List.
- Name it clearly, such as
Internal email test. - Return to Contacts and add a few team addresses manually or with Import CSV.
- Add those contacts to the internal list.
Confirm the list does not contain customers or a production segment.
4. Create and publish an email
Section titled “4. Create and publish an email”- Open Emails and choose New Email.
- Start with Draft with Loop, a blank canvas, imported HTML, or a template.
- Set an internal label that will still make sense when the email is reused.
- Add the subject, preview text, sender name, reply-to address, and message content.
- Check links, images, alt text, merge fields, and footer information.
- Send a test from the email editor when available.
- Publish the email when it is ready to be selected by a broadcast.
An email is a reusable asset. Publishing it does not send it.
5. Create the broadcast
Section titled “5. Create the broadcast”- Open Broadcasts and choose New Broadcast.
- Select the published email.
- Add the internal test list as the included audience.
- Confirm there are no unintended included lists or segments.
- Select the verified sending domain and intended sender settings.
- Review the recipient count and send-readiness checks.
- Send immediately or schedule the test.
CopyLoop blocks common readiness problems such as missing content, missing audiences, invalid sender settings, unverified domains, unknown merge fields, and missing company-address details.
6. Verify the result
Section titled “6. Verify the result”After the test is delivered:
- Confirm the message arrived from the expected sender.
- Check the subject, preview text, layout, images, and links on desktop and mobile.
- Test the unsubscribe or preference link with a test recipient.
- Open Analytics → Email Performance and confirm the broadcast appears.
- Record any change required before a production send.
Treat opens as directional because privacy features and automated scanners can affect them. Clicks, bounces, complaints, and unsubscribes usually provide stronger operational signals.
Before the first production audience
Section titled “Before the first production audience”- import or sync contacts from an understood source
- define included and excluded lists or segments
- review suppressions and unsubscribe state
- confirm the final sendable count is reasonable
- assign a final reviewer
- check frequency caps and quiet hours in Settings → Email Sending
Continue with Plan your first broadcast, Contacts, lists, and segments, or Automations.
